Looking Back At The Legacy Of Dr. Howard Shapiro

Looking Back at the Legacy of Dr. Howard Shapiro

With a deep sense of loss, we look back at the life and legacy of flow cytometry giant Dr. Howard Shapiro. He passed away on November 10, 2021, and greatly impacted a generation of flow cytometrists through his go-to reference book, Practical Flow Cytometry. He will be remembered fondly as a mentor and friend to all who was generous with his time and advice.

You can read reflections from Jonni S. Moore, ISAC President, on the ISAC (International Society for Advancement of Cytometry) website. In her article, Jonni announces that ISAC will honor Howard at CYTO 2022 with a memorial.

Celebrate Howard’s contributions to the field by reviewing his Laws of Flow Cytometry.

You’re also welcome to download his famous book in its 4th edition, offered now as a free, searchable PDF, on Beckman Coulter’s website.
