Kinetic River Creates Magnification Attachment for Macro Thermal Camera

New gadget alert! We’ve recently taken on a project for a client where we’ve been experimenting with the Thermal Master P2 Pro, billed as the world’s smallest thermal camera. It plugs right into a smartphone and comes with a macro accessory that allows for around a 20-mm field of view. 

Here’s where we come in: using our expertise in optical design and rapid prototyping, we’ve created an equally tiny attachment that boosts the magnification 3x, to a resolution of about 38 µm/pixel!

This extremely compact device has the potential to open the door for a whole host of applications, including microscopic inspection of printed circuit boards, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and more, at a fraction of the price of commercial IR microscope offerings.
