Kinetic River delivers Potomac analyzer to National Cancer Institute The flexibility of Kinetic River’s flagship Potomac modular flow cytometer made it the perfect choice to test novel laser sources, detectors, electronics and other technologies at a National Cancer Institute laboratory. Kinetic River delivered the Potomac to the lab of William Telford, who leads the Flow Cytometry Core Facility of the institute’s Experimental Transplantation and Immunology Branch. National Cancer Institute Orders Potomac Modular Flow Cytometer The National Cancer Institute (NCI) gave Kinetic River a vote of confidence earlier this year when it ordered a Potomac Modular Flow Cytometer customized to use novel light sources. The Potomac system is the perfect choice for this project; using off-the-shelf parts, it is easily customized and reconfigured. In the NCI laboratory of William Telford, Ph.D., it will serve as a test bed for novel laser sources, detectors, electronics and other technologies critical to t ..

Nothing beats the excitement of live demos. Through a successful collaboration with Excelitas Technologies, we designed a live demo of a modular flow cytometer in less than 2 months and showed it at three conferences in three countries this year. The ability to integrate hundreds of off-the-shelf components for this modular unit in a very short period of time was a critical part of this project. Kinetic River's experience in rapid prototyping and in-depth biophotonics technical expertise, in conjunction with a partner with a great depth in optics, photonics and optomechanical comp ..

It's Been a "Hot" Winter and Spring Season Here in California, the continuing historic drought has everyone ripping up lawns and covering up pools. What we're referring to, however, is the very intense activity we've seen at Kinetic River in the last 6 months. Below are just the highlights; we're already busy preparing for CYTO 2015, held in Glasgow, Scotland, this year. Hope to see many of you there. The Year in Review, and a Look Ahead It's always good to look back, if briefly, over the year gone by and take stock, since so often the "busyiness" of business can get in the way of a long-term perspective. We have mentioned some of these milestones in earlier newsletters (http://www.kineticriver.com/_blog/Kinetic_River/post/end-of-summer-newsletter/), such as the introduction of the Danube II and our capacity expansion. Taken together, the various accomplishments we achieved as a company make us proud and very thankful for our many supporters--clients, partners, and suppliers. We w ..

This is the second blog in a series covering CYTO 2014 (http://cytoconference.org/2014/Home.aspx), held this May 17-22 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Mainly in the form of raw notes, the intent of this series is to highlight talks, events, and trends from the annual cytometry congress and trade show that I found noteworthy. Clarifications, corrections, comments, and other suggestions welcome. The New Instruments (http://cytoconference.org/2014/Program/Parallel-Sessions.aspx) parallel session took place Tuesday, May 20.
